Another DIY to add to the never ending list

29 08 2009

For those of you that don’t like to carry clutches because your afraid you’ll sit it down and forget it, BOOM! Here you go.  I am assuming with a strong enough needle this can be a simple DIY.  If not, if you have the almost $1,000 to spare, you can get your own Alexander McQueen leather glove clutch.

Frank & Myrrh

12 08 2009

I am so incredibly excited, anxious and proud of one of my dear friends upcoming jewelry line Frank & Myrrh, which will officially launch August 15th.  The jewelry, which she personally hand crafted showcase her incredible eye for DETAILS.  I’m in love with how she has paid attention to the smallest details, including the clasps.  The jewelry pretty much speaks for itself, every piece is unique and the perfect staple piece.  AUGUST 15th.  Mark the date.

Also, bookmark her blog to follow her through the creative process and her etsy shop.

500 Days Of Summer

8 08 2009

This was such a cute movie.  I love quirky, witty movies about love so this one was right up my alley, plus I loved the way it was shot.  It’s ironic I’m reading On Love right now because there were a few scenes that were almost identical to ones in On Love.

Paris Je T’aime

27 07 2009

This past Saturday I was up until 4am (very uncharacteristic of me) wanting to call everyone I knew to talk about the most amazing movie, Paris Je T’aime.  It came on the Sundance channel and will be back on this Friday so PLEASE check it out, I promise you will thank me.

The film consists of 18 different short stories by various directors about falling in love in various parts of Paris.  Each story is shot completely differently and shares a different outlook on the part of Paris it takes place in.  The “love” the directors focus on varies from falling out of love, losing a member of the family, differences between races, and even falling in love with Paris itself.  It made me laugh, cry (hysterically) and made me want to get out of my bed to go to Paris immediately.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check it out, I’m going to watch it again today and I can usually only watch a movie once.  With this one I almost watched it again right after but was too sleepy.

I Need Some Summer Reading

22 07 2009

I’ve been beyond slacking when it comes to reading and want to finish a few good books before the summer is up. It was so convenient riding the train in Chicago, I could get through a book a week.  Now I’m lucky if I get through a chapter  a month and even that’s pushing it.

I just started On Love by Alain de Botton, a friend of mine pulled it out while we were at Bossa Nova and the waitress damn near turned our table over she was so excited, reading quotes and everything. So far I really like it but it’s pretty short so I’ll need  a new read soon.  Any suggestions?

Streetwear on the table

22 07 2009

The Sartorialist photography book is available for pre-order on Amazon and will be released August 12th.  It’s full of 512 pages and will be a definite on my table.

I saw this little step by step on how to get on the site and had to re-post.  In my case at least jumping out of dark alley’s isn’t one of the options, although I don’t need it to be one way or another.

Try This: Littersf

17 06 2009

I don’t know what to say except I’m going to have some major projects to work on the next few weeks. The pieces are out of my budget right now (I’m determined to stop spending on anything I think I can take the time to recreate) so I’m going to try some of these myself, once I do I’ll post some pics.  The pieces range from $89-the mid $200’s, click here to check them out.  It’s too early in the morning to have major product lust.
